Special Operations fighters get 26 120-mm mortars

The “Come Back Alive” Foundation for Competent Assistance to the Army has handed over 26 new Ukrainian 120 mm mortars to the operators of the Special Operations Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Their total cost is 26,000,000 UAH.

The Special Forces and fire support groups will use the mortars to destroy the enemy and cover the work of the Special Forces combat teams in the operational areas.

“We are grateful to the people who are helping to increase the firepower of the Special Forces – this applies to both our good friends from the Come Back Alive initiative and supportive citizens whose contributions made such a large-scale project possible. We have enough trained and experienced specialists in combat units who will start working with this new weapon any day now,” said Colonel Serhiy Lupanchuk, Commander of the Special Operations Forces.

“War requires weapons. 120 mm and 82 mm mortars are the second priority need for the Defense Forces after new pickup trucks, which the military have addressed to the Come Back Alive Foundation. Last year in August, the Foundation purchased 100 new mortars from the total proceeds on its accounts. Now we are covering a large volume of needs in the army, both by supplying individual units and fulfilling critical needs on the battlefield,” says Taras Chmut, director of the Come Back Alive Foundation.

Earlier, the Foundation delivered 6 mortars to the 35th and 36th Marine Brigades. 32 mortars from the batch were delivered to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine’s Special Forces, and seven mortars to the 95th separate air assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Three units were transferred by the Foundation to the 140th separate reconnaissance battalion of the Marines, and two mortars to the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi.

120 mm mortars operate at a distance of up to 7 kilometers and can effectively suppress fire or cover our defenders while performing special tasks.

As a reminder, the Foundation has recently completed the implementation of the “Long Arms of the TDF” project. All 31 brigades of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received reconnaissance and strike systems with 120-mm mortars. The total value of the equipment transferred to the troops under the project is over UAH 338 million. In addition to 186 mortars, the army also received new pickup trucks, reconnaissance, targeting, correction, and confirmation equipment.
