“Operation Evacuation” is a project in which we provided army aviation rescue teams with special equipment and vehicles to save pilots in case of accidents.
Why is this important?
When a helicopter departs on a combat mission, rescue teams on the ground switch to standby mode. They are the first to arrive and provide assistance if a helicopter is shot down or makes an emergency landing for any other reason.
The task of the rescuers is to locate all crew members as quickly as possible, provide first aid, stabilize the injured, and promptly evacuate everyone from the site.
Experience shows that such teams are most effective near the line of contact when operating in vehicles equipped with specialized rescue equipment — or on quad bikes, which are delivered to the mission area by helicopters.
Before the mission, pilots know that a rescue team will be waiting in their operational area and will come to their aid if needed.

The “Come Back Alive” Foundation, together with Fritt Ukraina, provided rescue teams with equipment and vehicles worth almost 30 million UAH, including:
– reconnaissance equipment for locating downed aircraft;
– nine off-road vehicles customized for rescue missions;
– four ATVs;
– tools to help extract crew members from crashed aircraft;
– firefighting equipment;
– compact stretchers for moving the wounded;
– communication devices;
– night vision and electronic warfare equipment to ensure safer movement of rescue teams in close proximity to the front line.
The search and rescue services of the command post and four army aviation brigades received property and equipment:
– 8th Army Aviation Command Post;
– 11th Separate Army Aviation Brigade “Kherson”;
– 16th Separate Army Aviation Brigade “Brody”;
– 18th Separate Army Aviation Brigade in honor of Ihor Sikorsky;
– 12th Separate Army Aviation Brigade in honor of General-Khorunzhyi Viktor Pavlenko.
About cooperation
The “Operation Evacuation” project is the fifth joint initiative of the “Come Back Alive” Foundation with the largest Norwegian organization, Fritt Ukraina. Previously, the organizations had already collaborated on two major projects within “Dronefall“, the “Let’s ground the enemy” project, and also provided the Unmanned Systems Forces with vehicles and drones.
This is a highly productive partnership between the two organizations, where both sides strengthen each other: the Norwegian side can attract new donors in Norway, to whom we do not have access, while we have a deep understanding of the military’s needs, Ukrainian manufacturers, and expertise in modifying vehicles for various military tasks. Together, we are able to achieve what neither of us could accomplish alone.
Such a partnership and close cooperation inspire both sides, because through collaboration we save even more lives.
