Come Back Alive Foundation Delivers Mortars and Grenade Launchers for Military Training

For the first time, the Come Back Alive Foundation Foundation has delivered mortars and grenade launchers to training centers and military academies. This significantly improves the quality of military training and helps cadets perform more effectively on the battlefield in the future.

A total of nineteen units were delivered, worth 300 575 euro:

  • 10 82-mm mortars,
  • 6 120-mm mortars,
  • and 3 UAG-40 grenade launchers.

Serviceable and modern weapons are essential for recruits to improve their shooting skills with real weapons, not mock-ups or simulators. Although these 19 units do not fully meet the needs of training centers and military academies, the Foundation will continue providing them with weapons.

“This transfer is the first for the Come Back Alive Foundation. Previously, we delivered weapons exclusively to combat units. We are launching this new line of work because we understand the importance of high-quality training for those who will have to apply their skills in combat.

Among those we helped at least two training centers that did not have a single weapon. The situation is the same in military academies. Unfortunately, even when they have weapons, they are often nonfunctional or outdated and unsuitable for practical use — serving only for studying technical aspects and nothing more,” — explains Yurii Podlesnyi, Head of the Instructional Department at Come Back Alive.

This transfer became possible thanks to donors who regularly support the Come Back Alive Foundation’s general accounts, as no partner funds were used to purchase training weapons. Yurii Podlesnyi emphasizes that this area of work significantly impacts the military training process and increases the effectiveness of service members at the front.

“One of the Foundation’s priorities for 2025–2026 is to become deeply involved in the field of training and education. And weapons are one of the key elements — training is impossible without them. It’s one thing to study theory, and quite another when we talk about training specialists in UAVs, anti-drone systems, or electronic warfare. This is one of the essential components in preparing specialists.

At military training grounds, any weapon quickly exhausts its service life. Due to the intensity of training, the number of rounds fired per weapon often exceeds the usage levels of similar weapons at the front,” — says Podlesnyi.
