Hot tea for a hot front: Come Back Alive and Ukrzaliznytsia launch a new fundraiser for automatic grenade launchers

Come Back Alive Foundation, together with Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways), has launched a joint initiative to raise funds for automatic grenade launchers for brigades holding the most difficult stretches of the front. One automatic grenade launcher costs roughly UAH 1.2 million. The project’s goal is to purchase at least ten such systems.

An automatic grenade launcher is a weapon system that fires explosive grenades and is effective not only by direct hits but also through shrapnel and the blast wave. In pre-designated sectors of operation, an automatic grenade launcher produces sustained fire: its grenades cover not just a single point but an entire area. The result is that it becomes much harder for the enemy to move and conduct combat. For this reason, this weapon often determines the outcome of engagements on the most problematic sections of the front.

“The enemy commits large numbers of infantry, trying to penetrate our battle lines, which, unfortunately, are not always sufficiently manned. In this situation the grenade launcher helps: it is highly effective against infantry. A properly sited grenade-launcher position near the contact line and accurate fire on a specific sector can hold back enemy movement for a long time — provided there is effective camouflage. When infantry is lacking and small-arms fire cannot withstand attacks by superior forces, a few bursts from a grenade launcher can stop an assault and hold the front line. Unlike FPV drones, whose effectiveness decreases in bad weather, an automatic grenade launcher retains combat capability in rain or fog and can be employed precisely at moments when the enemy is massing toward our positions,” says Vladyslav Urubkov, head of the Military Department at the Come Back Alive Foundation.

Supporting the fundraiser is easy,  and if you’re traveling with Ukrzaliznytsia, tasty too. During your trip, order the “Granatomed” tea from Gemini — 10% of every cup will go to the fundraiser. For UAH 45 you’ll receive the Granatomed tea, a honey gummy, and a little fortune. If your next trip is still far off, you can donate to the grenade-launcher fundraiser via the link provided.

The grenade launchers will be transferred to units with the most urgent needs. Final decisions on specific units, models, and allocation will be made by the Foundation in coordination with representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine closer to the end of the fundraiser.

We are saving lives and making history alongside you.
