Danish contribution strengthens the training of Ukrainian soldiers together with Come Back Alive Foundation
Denmark is contributing to a new initiative that will strengthen and modernise training efforts for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Minister for Defence Troels Lund Poulsen presented the contribution today in Kyiv together with his Ukrainian counterpart and the Ukrainian Foundation Come Back Alive Foundation.
This initiative includes new equipment and better infrastructure for a training center: instructional facilities, accommodation, sanitary facilities, and drones for training use. Access to modern equipment and facilities is essential to ensure that the Ukrainian soldiers receive better training, compared to the current training centers setups.
The initiative, valued at approximately EUR 33 million, is financed through funding allocated under Donation Package 29.
“Since the beginning of the war, Denmark has supported Ukraine with donations of equipment and training of Ukrainian soldiers, and we will continue to do so. It is essential that Ukraine increasingly conducts training on its own territory, so that it can deliver faster operational effect on the battlefield. And with this initiative, we contribute to giving the soldiers the best possible conditions,” says Minister for Defence Troels Lund Poulsen.

The agreement has been concluded with the Ukrainian non-profit institution, Come Back Alive Foundation, which will carry out the procurement of training equipment and infrastructure for training centers in Ukraine. This initiative is an example of an innovative new Danish support mechanism that enables the procurement of equipment from a broader range of Ukrainian suppliers than previously. Denmark can thereby strengthen training efforts for the Ukrainian forces while also supporting Ukraine’s defence industry.
The agreement, concluded in late 2025, stems from a Ukrainian request for the donation of a wide range of training equipment and associated infrastructure.
“I am grateful to Denmark for its consistent support, leadership and strategic partnership. Today, we are launching a unique infrastructure project. This is the first example of a strategic enhancement of military training capabilities in Ukraine with the support of our partners. Danish investments in infrastructure, equipment and drones make it possible to create modern and safe training conditions and deliver a rapid impact on the battlefield,” says Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Mykhailo Fedorov.

Denmark chose the organisation Come Back Alive Foundation on the recommendation of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, the Ukrainian anti-corruption authorities, and international partners. Come Back Alive Foundation stands on principles of transparency and non-partisanship, on-ground expertise, and high speed of work.
“People are the main value and the true “game changers” in this war. It is on them that all technologies and victories depend. Since 2015, Come Back Alive Foundation has been actively helping the state improve the training of military personnel. This year, our cooperation is reaching a new level — together with the Ministry of Defence of Denmark, and with the support of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, we will implement the first large-scale project aimed at developing training infrastructure for the Defence Forces. Together, we will provide decent and safe conditions for the training of our drone operators and infantry — those on whom the front line depends today”, says Director of the Come Back Alive Foundation Taras Chmut.

Come Back Alive Foundation is an independent foundation working as a strategic partner of the Defence Forces of Ukraine. Come Back Alive Foundation started in 2014 and comprehensively equips the military with everything from vehicles to grenade launchers, as well as providing research studies and implementing educational projects for the military.
In 2025 the Come Back Alive Foundation successfully passed an audit in accordance with the international standard ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems. For Come Back Alive Foundation this certification confirms that all stages of its work — from fundraising to the delivery of assistance — are transparent, properly documented, and subject to quality control.
