In March 2014, the 10th Naval Aviation Brigade conducted a unique operation at the airfield in Novofedorivka, Saky district village. On the order of Colonel Ihor Bedzai, the brigade’s deputy commander for flight training, the unit evacuated its aircraft from the already besieged Crimea to Mykolaiv’s Kulbakyne airfield.
On 7 May 2022, Colonel Bedzai, although he was not supposed to do so by his position, flew out for another complex search and rescue operation near the mouth of the Danube River. The officer’s crew completed the task, but their Mi-14 was hit by a Russian-guided missile. The colonel and five other Ukrainian servicemen on board were killed.
The 10th Naval Aviation Brigade was named in honour of the Hero of Ukraine, Colonel Ihor Bedzai. And now, the only unit of its kind in the Ukrainian Navy not only dreams of returning to its native Crimea, but also commits every operation to avenge its friend and commander.
We love Crimea too. And we are waiting for the 10th Naval Aviation Brigade to carry out a new unique special operation and return its aircraft to the airfield in Novofedorivka, Saky district.
To bring this moment closer, together with the Representative Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Ukrainska Pravda, we are raising UAH 10,000,000 for the unit’s forward scouts.
We aim to cover 100% of their need for specialized vehicles, regular communications equipment, drones, Starlink, and aviation headset kits and adapters.
This will increase the controllability of the naval aviation brigade and allow scouts to adjust the fire of their helicopters from the ground in real time, transmit the necessary information to the command and, in case of danger, rescue their people.
