“To reign over the stars”: Foundation presents documentary about the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine

The “Come Back Alive” Foundation for Competent Assistance to the Army presented a documentary film “To Reign Over the Stars”. In two parts, the film shows the work of reconnaissance and strike aviation of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

Between February 2022 and August 2024, the Foundation provided over UAH 1.4 billion worth of assistance to the DIU units. In particular, in the fall of 2022, it implemented a secret project “Black Box” worth UAH 230 million for the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. One of the components of the “box” is the UJ-26 Beaver kamikaze drones, which successfully perform tasks in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and at military facilities in enemy territory.

“In July 2022, there was an urgent need for long-range vehicles. We lacked artillery and multiple launch rocket systems. We had to hit the rear, disrupt the enemy’s logistics, strike where they did not expect it. We were looking for technical solutions. One of them is the Beaver kamikaze drone,” says Taras Chmut, director of the Come Back Alive initiative.

“It has revolutionized the way we approach combat operations. Yes, there were strike UAVs, reconnaissance and strike systems, purely strike systems of the operational and tactical level, carrying various missile weapons. But no one was using UAVs in the form of kamikaze drones on a large scale and did not even consider such a possibility before our war,” says Kyrylo Budanov, the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

In addition, the Foundation purchased a Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicle, PD-2 and Shark reconnaissance UAVs, special reconnaissance stations, vehicles and other equipment for the DIU.

“With the support of our contributors, the Foundation was able to strategically strengthen the capabilities of the country’s main intelligence service. This helped the DIU grow in quantity and quality. Most of the film’s characters joined the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine after February 24, 2022, and have achieved great professionalism. They are some of the best specialists not only in Ukraine but also in the world,” says Anatoliy Hayevskyi, videographer of ‘Come Back Alive’.

“The Come Back Alive team is as responsive as possible. They understand the problems we have in certain areas. They hear us and we hear them. We are one big Ukrainian family. We have no other choice but to win. And we are working on it,” says the commander of the DIU strike unit with the call sign “Kolibri.”

We remind you that in April, the Foundation presented its first documentary film “Find and Destroy! How Strike UAVs Work in the Russian-Ukrainian War“.
